With the costs and availability of catastrophic reinsurance since 2001, many group life carriers now self-fund these exposures. Even with this exposure, some companies may have become indifferent to collecting and maintaining risk concentration data down to the street address level. Not doing so, however, not only exposes a company to unknown concentrations but can also affect its A.M. Best rating and its own ERM scores.
